Job Description
Role - Project Worker (Homeless Residential)
Location - GCHSCP, Various areas throughout Glasgow
Contract Status - Permanent
Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!
The Homeless Residential Service provides a full assessment and resettlement service within the four Homeless Residential Units throughout Glasgow. These units operate 24/7, and therefore, 12-hour day shifts including weekends are required.
Project Workers deliver a front-line service across diverse client groups, working one-to-one with individuals and assisting with support planning. Staff motivate and support service users to minimise isolation, increase self-confidence, and learn new skills. Promoting service user involvement is key. Staff also provide practical assistance, such as developing living skills like cooking, money management, and accompanying service users to appointments.
Project Workers should have good verbal and written communication skills. They are supervised by a Team Leader and are not responsible for managing staff.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme is essential upon appointment. Successful candidates will be required to pay for their PVG membership or scheme checks.
Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is mandatory for this role. You must be already registered or have applied within 3 months and registered within 6 months of your start date. Currently, local authority staff are not required to pay SSSC fees due to the local government pay deal.
These roles are exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
