Job Description:

Carnival UK is the parent company of two distinct and well known brands that we are proud of, P&O Cruises and Cunard. A hugely successful global business with a rich heritage, with two of the world’s most admired travel brands and an exciting vision for the future we offer seafaring cadets a number of exciting cadetship training programmes that will rival any other industry experience.

A Deck officer’s job is to be the on board navigation and ship operations expert. This is your chance to kick start your career in the international shipping industry. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for our industry and are keen to have the opportunity to combine industry experience while gaining a BSc, Foundation Degree or HND in Nautical Science.

If you’re in school, college or university and starting to think about your future, Carnival UK can offer you all the adventure and opportunity you’ve been looking for. It’s an exciting way to meet new people, pick up fantastic skills, start your seafaring career and, most importantly, gain experiences that’ll stay with you for a lifetime with an employer that truly cares about your wellbeing. When you join as a cadet, you’ll take part in all kinds of activities, and you’ll also have the opportunity to travel, gain top qualifications, and get paid for it too. We’ll even pay your tuition fees to help you stay debt-free while you train with us.

As a deck officer cadet, you’ll learn how to navigate by both traditional and modern means, supervise the crew at a variety of tasks, and ensure the overall safe operation of the ship.

Before you apply please make sure you hold the following:

  • Four GCSEs or Scottish Certificate of Education equivalence at grade 9-5 (A*to C) including Maths, Science (with significant physical science content) and English
  • Candidates must be UK or EEA citizens and be a resident in the UK for at least one year immediately prior to application and have the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions

What we are looking for:

Carnival UK prides itself upon our greatest asset, our colleagues. If you have a thirst for team work, innovation, communicating, the sea, travel and exploration, then read on. We are looking for resilient, quick-thinking and positive individuals to start their career with us.

We want to hear from you if you are excited about working as part of a team and have good communication skills. The environments you will be working in mean you will need to be someone who can stay calm under pressure and have the ability to work in a changing environment. You will need to be self driven and motivated to learn as you progress through your cadetship and your career with Carnival UK. We will be looking for you show a good knowledge of engineering and practical skills.

We want to welcome and hear from as many interested candidates as possible. Don’t lose time & apply now! We are looking forward to reviewing your application, and wish you the best of luck.

Please note: Being able to create unforgettable holiday happiness is a brilliant opportunity so we often receive high volumes of applications for our roles. In these cases we may close our job adverts early and aren’t able to consider applications once this happens.
