  2. Demonstrate advanced experience in respiratory and sleep science, conducting advanced clinical physiology investigations.
  3. Provide leadership, training, and education across sleep and respiratory services, developing staff skills and competencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate specialist skills in respiratory and sleep sciences, e.g., CPET, Oxygen Therapy, Pulmonary Function Testing.
  2. Analyze, interpret, and report investigation results.
  3. Perform respiratory and sleep physiology tests independently to departmental standards.
  4. Participate in local and national meetings related to respiratory and sleep sciences.
  5. Identify diagnostic and therapeutic needs, attending multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
  6. Interpret complex data to identify pathological or incidental findings, reporting diagnoses appropriately.
  7. Communicate test results and technical information effectively with colleagues.
  8. Support the daily running of the department.
  9. Assist in achieving departmental strategic objectives, including developing and revising guidelines.

Qualifications and Professional Training
  • BSc in Clinical Physiology Respiratory or equivalent
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Healthcare Science
  • ARTP Award (Part 1, Part 2, Associate, or Practitioner examinations)
Desirable criteria
  • HCPC registration
  • Intermediate Life Support
  • Mary Seacole NHS Leadership Award or equivalent
  • DClinSci or PhD
Experience and Knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Experience in NHS leadership roles
  • Experience as an independent practitioner in respiratory and sleep investigations
  • Evidence of research and audit activities
  • Experience developing training packages
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
