Job description

Family Support Worker – SEMH & Challenging Behaviours
Competitive Pay Rate (Dependent on Experience & Qualifications)

Do you have a passion for supporting children and families, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a dedicated Family Support Worker to join a team that works closely with young people and their families, helping them overcome barriers to education and well-being.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience working with children and young people (ideally those with additional needs), who has a positive, solution-focused attitude and outstanding interpersonal skills. If you’re empathetic yet proactive, and have the initiative to lead in a challenging environment, we want to hear from you. A full UK driving licence is beneficial, as the role may require some travel across the region.

Main Duties:

  • Provide support to students and families facing complex needs, focusing on improving attendance and reducing barriers to education.
  • Promote positive relationships between home, school, and the wider community.
  • Work as part of a team to develop strategies and provide practical support to families, helping them navigate challenges related to their child's education and well-being.
  • Be proactive in identifying at-risk students and taking the lead in creating support plans.

What We Need From You:

  • A confident, outgoing individual who can build strong relationships with children, young people, and their families.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, while maintaining a practical, solution-focused approach.
  • A willingness to take initiative and lead when necessary.
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred due to occasional travel requirements.

What Protocol Can Offer:

  • A dedicated consultant who will work with you to ensure the role is a great fit for your skills and career goals.
  • Access to over 50 CPD courses to help you further your professional development and career progression.
  • Flexibility in working hours – whether full-time, part-time, or temporary work options.
  • Competitive pay rates based on skills and experience.
  • A £50 referral bonus for any candidate you refer who begins working for Protocol.
  • The opportunity to work with an award-winning agency known for its recognition and accreditations within the education industry.

If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, apply today with your CV and a short cover letter. We look forward to discussing how you can make a difference in the lives of young people and their families.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
