PRU Teacher
Location: Erdington
Salary: £180 – £220 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated PRU Teacher to join a supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Erdington. The role involves teaching a broad curriculum to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who are unable to access mainstream education.

As part of a committed team, you’ll help students re-engage with learning, manage behaviour positively, and build key life skills in a nurturing, small-group setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons across core subjects.
  • Create a safe, structured environment that supports SEMH development.
  • Work closely with colleagues, families, and external agencies.
  • Track progress and adapt strategies to meet individual needs.

Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience
  • SEMH, SEBD needs experience
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school based references
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service
  • Experience in a PRU or alternative provision.
  • Strong classroom management and SEMH awareness.
