Job Title: Lead SHEQ Advisor (Environmental and Carbon Lead)
Salary: Competitive
Location: Duncan Street, Salford with travel to sites nationally
Job Type: Permanent, Full time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week

With recent new business wins with multiple major clients adding to our existing portfolio of framework agreements and ongoing Major Projects, this is an exciting time to join our business.

Purpose Of The Role

To ensure the Company meets health and safety standards through the implementation of the Company Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with government regulations and industry best practice. To support the Head of SHEQ in developing the SHEQ Advisor to meet Company standards. Act as Environmental and Carbon Lead for the Company, developing the environmental impact and carbon reduction strategy.

Please note that due to the nature of the role, the candidate will need a full driver’s license and be flexible with nationwide travel.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Act as escalation point for SHEQ matters in the absence of the Head of SHEQ.
  2. Develop and review Construction Phase Plans (CPPs) before issuance.
  3. Conduct regular H&S inspections on all projects.
  4. Coordinate accident reporting and investigation.
  5. Log and monitor hazard reports.
  6. Stay updated with H&S legislation and industry best practices.
  7. Handle queries and correspondence related to H&S issues, providing advice as needed.
  8. Issue H&S alerts or guidance as appropriate.
  9. Implement and adhere to the organisation’s IMS and Health and Safety Policy.
  10. Manage and mentor employees to ensure IMS implementation and safe work practices, promoting best practices.
  11. Act as environmental and carbon reduction lead, developing strategies collaboratively.
  12. Establish environmental risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  13. Set and monitor carbon reduction goals, identifying key opportunities.
  14. Conduct internal audits as per the audit programme.
  15. Implement health and safety processes.
  16. Support the health, safety, and training structure of the company.
  17. Monitor work teams and depots through inspections and audits.
  18. Record non-conformances and corrective/preventive actions.
  19. Distribute lessons learned.
  20. Assist with external accreditations such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NERS, Achilles.
  21. Review and update company procedures.
  22. Liaise with safety representatives and operatives.
