Job description

Are you a Contracts Manager with extensive experience in BMS, ICT, and ELVS? Do you have a strong track record of leading project teams and delivering high-value contracts? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal role in a growing and dynamic industry.

As a Contracts Manager, you will take overall responsibility for multiple projects, overseeing delivery from order acknowledgment through to final completion. You will lead a team of Project Managers, ensuring contract compliance, resource planning, and quality control while maintaining strong client relationships.

This flexible role will primarily be based in Coulsdon; however, it may require occasional travel to projects around London.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee multiple projects from initial contract review to completion.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of Project Managers.
  • Conduct monthly contract reviews with project teams.
  • Manage and communicate resource requirements across teams and the wider business.
  • Attend sites regularly, conduct leadership tours, and act as the main point of client escalation.
  • Negotiate and manage supply chain contracts, including installation specialists.
  • Maintain high health & safety standards across all project sites.
  • Ensure teams follow integrated management system (IMS) and standard operating procedures.
  • Maximise profitability by ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Identify additional work opportunities and ensure appropriate costs are claimed.
  • Accurately record and report any site delays and their causes.
  • Review monthly cost reports with the Commercial Manager.
  • Approve timesheets and holiday requests for staff and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical and managerial support to less experienced staff.
  • Act as a mentor, helping colleagues find solutions and develop professionally.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Participate in the development and training of junior staff.
  • Take a lead role in the continuous improvement of project processes.
Key Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of BMS, ICT, and ELVS industries.
  • Previous experience in a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager role.
  • Technical qualification in BMS, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of building services (mechanical & electrical systems).
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and contract management.
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
  • CSCS/ECS cardholder.
  • Understanding of industry standards (BS7671, CIBSE, BSRIA guides).
  • First Aid qualified.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certified.
  • Holds a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Actively networks within the BMS controls industry to stay updated on innovations.
