Job Opportunity: Recycling Centre Site Operative

Essex Waste Partnership aspires to be a zero-waste county. By working together, we aim to reduce waste, protect the environment, and conserve resources. Join our Recycling Centre Teams to help us achieve these goals.

We are currently recruiting a full-time Site Operative for our Recycling Centre in Clacton. Please note, weekend work (Saturdays and Sundays) is required, with a 6% flat rate allowance for Sundays worked.

What will you be doing?
  • Assist the public with questions, queries, or complaints.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe site.
  • Promote and facilitate re-use activities.
  • Provide clear instructions to subcontractors and hauliers.
  • Operate plant machinery and oversee waste movements.
  • Ensure proper storage of materials for recycling and reuse.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Contribute to safe and efficient site operations.
  • Support administrative tasks as required.
  • Assist at alternative Recycling Centres when needed.

The Experience You Will Bring
  • Ability to work on foot for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with good administrative skills.
  • Willingness to learn new systems.
  • Necessary training (First Aid, Plant Operator, Fire Marshall).
  • Full Driving License.
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety certification.
  • NPORS or similar Plant Operators Licence with experience operating plant machinery, preferably in waste management.
Interviews

Interviews will be conducted face-to-face at Clacton - CO16 7BL Recycling Centre.
