Job description

Brockenhurst College has a great opportunity for a Lecturer in Business Studies and Economics to join their dedicated and enthusiastic team. You will be working on a full-time basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers: £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum DOE).

We are a high-achieving college attracting around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. Located within the stunning New Forest National Park, we offer our students a wide range of courses and superb facilities.

As our Lecturer in Business Studies and Economics, you will:
  1. Teach on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum.
  2. Act as a Personal Tutor to students, if required.
  3. Act as Course Leader, when requested.
  4. Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records, and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers, as appropriate.
  5. Work closely with colleagues to respond to students' needs.
  6. Pay due attention to inclusive learning principles.
  7. Contribute to the design, delivery, and future planning and development of the curriculum.
  8. Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course.
  9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course.
  10. Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings.
  11. Organise and participate in visits, field trips, etc.
The ideal candidate will need:
  1. A degree or equivalent professional qualification in the relevant subject area.
  2. Appropriate teacher training qualification (or working towards this).
  3. Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area.
  4. Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
