NHS AfC: Band 6

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London, including specialist care for patients from further afield such as cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory, and cardiovascular services.

Guy’s hosts the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. In our commitment to providing care closer to home, we opened additional centres at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup in 2017. St Thomas’ features one of the UK’s largest critical care units and a busy emergency department, and is home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark, offering specialist services across south east England, including cardiac, renal, and critical care. We lead several specialist service networks to ensure children are treated locally with access to specialist expertise when needed. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing, and family support for children with long-term conditions.

Our adult community services focus on partnership with GPs, local authorities, and voluntary organizations to improve local patient care. Since February 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’, creating a leading heart and lung centre for high-quality care and research.

We pride ourselves on clinical excellence, high-quality teaching, and research. As part of King’s Health Partners, we have dedicated clinical research facilities, including an MHRA-accredited Phase I trials unit.

Patients are central to our work, and we aim to deliver the best patient experience with safe, high-quality care. Our recent CQC inspection rated us ‘good’ overall, with our adult community services rated ‘outstanding’.

Our 23,500 staff are our greatest asset. We support staff development and engagement, which positively impacts patient care. We are also undertaking a significant capital investment program.
