Audit Senior

Your new company
Hays is happy to be partnering with an accountancy firm that is experiencing high levels of growth and is looking to add to their audit team. Are you passionate about providing personalised accountancy services and looking to take the next step in your career? This is a well-established CA firm which has been delivering exceptional service since the 19th century, catering to a diverse range of clients, including individuals, partnerships, companies, and not-for-profit organisations such as charities, housing associations, and credit unions. The firm offers a comprehensive service by integrating accounts, audit, tax, and business advice across various sectors, ensuring tailored solutions for each client.

Your new role
The role would be based either in Glasgow or Edinburgh, working on a hybrid basis. You would be leading audits both on and off-site, providing a hands-on approach to delivering a service exceeding customer expectations and supporting the management team. Your main responsibilities would be as follows:

  1. Maintain a high degree of knowledge and awareness of audit, and attend training and development sessions where necessary.
  2. Lead the whole audit process from planning to finalisation.
  3. Investigate and determine causes and irregularities.
  4. Investigate and assess controls and systems.
  5. Create audit finding reports.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Prior experience working in a CA firm (ideally with experience auditing housing associations or charities, but this is not a must).
  2. Have achieved, or are working towards, professional accountancy qualifications (ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW etc.).
  3. Knowledge of reporting standards such as FRS 102.
  4. Excellent communication skills and client engagement skills.
  5. Ability to multitask and manage a portfolio of clients while meeting deadlines.
  6. Attention to detail as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. A positive attitude and good work ethic.
  8. A strong desire to take the next step in your career!
