Purpose of the role
We are looking to recruit driven individuals to support the business with the delivery of our HS2 related projects across all business lines for Heidelberg Materials UK, ensuring as a team we successfully deliver these projects and exceed customer expectations.
The role will involve professional administrative, sales, orders, distribution and planning support to the HS2 business function, meeting customer and business requirements in the most cost effective, professional and timely manner whilst achieving a high level of customer service.
This is a great opportunity to be part of the HS2 project delivery team that will be at the forefront of supplying our products and services throughout the length of the largest rail infrastructure project in the UK. The HS2 team is part of the national commercial team, that is dedicated to maintaining and developing national key customers and major projects. We are a relatively small but very successful team with recent awards on major projects such as Hinkley Point, Crossrail, Thames tideway and now HS2.
Key Accountabilities
- Handling verbal and written enquiries efficiently, effectively, politely and accurately.
- Effectively manage all customer communication through actively listening to understanding the customer requirements, so that all relevant information is captured and processed in the most efficient way.
- Managing allocated customers by ensuring a regular personal contact via the telephone and in accordance with set KPI objectives.
- Ensure Pre-invoice check procedure is followed to prevent price queries.
- Work to aim to prevent and resolve queries.
- Accurately process all admin within given deadlines.
- Deliver QUOTIFIC customer experience “quoted on time, delivery in full and on time, invoiced correctly.
- Create, alter and confirm new customer orders, completing all necessary customer order details within the Company’s SAP Order Management system.
- Receive, log and resolve customer & haulier complaints on the Heidelberg Materials NCR and Complaints system ensuring preventative and corrective measures are put in place in a timely manner.
- Maintain good working relationships with drivers and/or traffic staff of service providers.
- Daily liaison with line manager to identify planning issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Fully comply with the allocator cycle.
- Monitor driver / haulier availability In conjunction with weighbridge / Batching staff, engage sufficient haulage to meet customer delivery requirements. Liaise with on site personnel & other regional coordinators to optimize distribution.
- Monitor distribution operation with regards to customer requirements and vehicle utilisation during the day.
- Ensure hired vehicles comply within cost limits and negotiate when required.
- Control and record daily hired vehicles and ensure PO process compliance.
- Generate and interpret reports to improve on improve logistics.
- Escalate any circumstances likely to impact on service quality or any areas requiring clarification and ensure prompt communication with customers.
- Develop knowledge of all roles within the team and provide cover when requested.
- Generating, progressing and developing new business leads and opportunities in line with sales KPI objectives.
- Liaise with regional team to ensure adequate stock levels at required locations.
- Follow up on customer quotes, update project commercial and opportunity tracker.

Experience
- Experience –1 year customer sales/service/operations/transport role.
Education/Qualification
- Minimum of a Grade C at GCSE in Maths and English.
- Experience working with standard office packages.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Ideally have experience of working within a large company environment and achieving targets.
