Job Description

Position: Registration Service Officer (Frontline)

Type: Permanent, Part-Time (18.5 hours/week)

Location: Chelmsford Library, with coverage at other offices as required

Salary: £12,540 to £13,826 per annum based on hours worked

Working Hours: 8:50am - 5:00pm, with a four-week rolling rota:

  • Week 2 – Monday, Tuesday
  • Week 3 – Monday, Tuesday, Saturday
  • Week 4 – Monday, Tuesday
Role Overview

The Registration Service Officer (Frontline) plays a vital role in delivering core registration services, including registering Births, Deaths, Stillbirths, and managing Notices of Intent for Marriages and Civil Partnerships. The role requires organisation, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft applications. Full training will be provided to ensure compliance with legislative and statutory duties in accordance with GRO regulations. The role involves interaction with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to achieve service excellence.

Requirements
  • Mobility across operational areas, with a valid driving license and access to a vehicle, or alternative mobility arrangements
  • Experience in registration or a relevant service, with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
  • Educated to 'A' level/NVQ 3 or equivalent
