Job description

Hydrographic Nearshore Surveyor

Our client, a well-established, hugely successful marine survey company, is currently seeking Hydrographic Nearshore Surveyors to join their project teams. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Great Yarmouth. The Hydrographic Nearshore Surveyor will be providing both field data acquisition and office support. This is a UK-based role; therefore, it is essential that you have the right to work in the UK.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Working with vessel master and Senior Surveyor/Party chief to ensure vessel is safe and serviceable for ongoing work
  • Mobilisation and calibration of survey equipment
  • Deployment/recovery and tuning of survey equipment
  • Online data acquisition and QC, daily data backup
  • Perform marine activities as part of the vessel crew
  • Contribute to the day-to-day office workload including data processing and QA/QC of data
  • Continual improvement of company systems and pre-project documentation
  • Working with software packages including – QINSy, PDS2000, POSPac MMS, Trimble Business Centre, Caris HIPS and SIPS, Geosoft Oasis, Montaj.
  • You will be required to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to working practices, essential in the nearshore survey market.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Survey Discipline or in Marine Science, Oceanography, Engineering, Environmental Science
  • Previous industry experience of marine surveying
  • Have knowledge of software packages including – QINSy, PDS2000, POSPac MMS, Trimble Business Centre, Caris HIPS and SIPS, Geosoft Oasis, Montaj
  • Previous knowledge of Multibeam data processing, GNSS data processing, Geophysical data processing, UXO data processing along with tidal theory
  • Acoustic theory and geodesy
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages (Word/Excel)
  • Right to work in the UK required
  • A full drivers’ license is necessary

Extra information
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass an ENG 1 medical and STCW95 survival course (if not already obtained)
