Job description

Our client, a well-established and highly reputable civil engineering contractor based in the East of Scotland, is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team. This exciting permanent opportunity involves working on diverse civil engineering projects, with a focus on groundworks packages across multiple sites in Fife and Edinburgh.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the commercial team to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Attending, contributing to and minuting Project Team Meetings
  • Re-measuring work using site measurement, measurement from drawings, information from Site Agents
  • Measure, price, negotiate and agree budgets and costs for variations to project scope.
  • Produce and maintain up to date procurement schedules
  • Reporting to Commercial team on job performance via cost/value comparisons
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts, surveying reports and take offs
  • Agreeing Sub-Contractor orders for approval
  • Ensuring that retention monies/additional monies are released, and correspondence is documented

You should have a methodical approach, great interpersonal skill and have the following skills:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering – groundworks.
  • NEC and JTC experience are essential, and you should be able to demonstrate a background in managing complex forms of contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning and negotiating skills
  • A valid UK driving licence
