Job Title: Research Fellow (Global Research)

The University of Manchester invites applications for the position of Research Fellow (Global Research) to join the Mental Health Research Group within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work, School of Health Sciences (DNMSW). This role offers an opportunity to contribute to an NIHR Global Health Research Group focused on establishing a national suicide response for young people in Indonesia. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health clinicians and researchers in the UK and Southeast Asia.

About the Division

The Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work is renowned for its world-class research, ranked top among 94 institutions nationally in the 2014 Research Exercise Framework (REF 2014, Unit of Assessment 3). Our research aims to improve health and social care globally through collaborative, high-quality, impactful outputs. We work with the Department of Health, NHS, community organizations, charities, and patient and community partners.

Role Details

You will work closely with Dr. Helen Brooks and Professor Penny Bee, the Chief Investigators, and be based within the Mental Health Research Group. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position for up to 44 months, with potential for hybrid working (office and home-based). The role involves coordinating a global, multi-site, mixed methods research project, including Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE), with a focus on mental health research with young people.

Candidate Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in managing large-scale, multi-site research projects, especially involving young people's mental health
  • Skills in conducting mental health research and engaging with young populations
  • Proven ability to coordinate and manage research activities within time and budget constraints
