Residential Children's Practitioner Level 1 (7947) | Permanent contract | 25.6 hours per week | £25,584 to £27,269 per annum/pro rata | (Grade E) | Kings Lynn

Do you have experience working with children with complex needs? Are you seeking a rewarding career in social care where you can make a difference to children and their families? Do you want a role that offers a good work/life balance?

About us:

Marshfields is a short break home providing emergency and time-limited specialist care for young people aged 5-18 with complex needs, where family, foster care, or other community placements are not possible or desirable at the time.

The role:

This is a night waking role requiring you to provide high-quality direct care to children and young people, ensuring their holistic needs are met. Responsibilities include providing personal intimate care, supporting children with disabilities through tasks such as eating, washing, toileting, repositioning, hoisting, and health care tasks, all of which can be learned through appropriate training and delegation of clinical procedures.

We adopt a relationship-based approach, building trusted relationships with children and families. Our practice is strengths-oriented, focusing on the abilities of families to foster positive change. We are committed to achieving the best outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Why Our Team Loves Their Job:

Our team shares a common goal: to respond positively to the evolving demands of the role. We aim to ensure children and young people with disabilities have fun, safe, and respectful stays. Working here is rewarding, full of fun, and offers the privilege of engaging with inspiring young people and colleagues. I have loved my job here for 10 years.

You Will:
  • Support young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Be part of a night waking staff team, ideal for working around school hours.
  • Make sound judgments under pressure and respond effectively in crises.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and making a positive impact on young people's lives.
  • Be reliable, with good personal relationships and communication skills.

For an informal discussion, contact Nicola King, Team Manager, at 01603 306163.

We are committed to equality and inclusion, welcoming applications regardless of gender identity, disability, marital status, ethnicity, age, pregnancy, religion, or sexual orientation. We are proud to hold several awards, including Carer Friendly Employer Status and Disability Confident Leader Status.
