Job Title: Barclays RatesOne Developer

Join The Macro Rates business team within Markets Pre-Trade at Barclays. In this role, you will develop, test, deploy, support, and maintain software applications used by the Fixed Income Rates business, including both in-house and vendor solutions.

Working Environment

We are adopting a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility between working from home and in the office. Typically, colleagues spend 20% to 60% of their time in the office, with arrangements discussed with the hiring manager.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with trading, quant, and product teams, supporting first-line support and liaising with risk, controls, and compliance functions.
  2. Analyze requirements with vendors to integrate them into existing systems effectively.
  3. Develop solutions, including modifications to internal adapters and vendor systems.
  4. Conduct unit, system, regression, and performance testing; perform code reviews.
  5. Provide innovative solutions to business challenges within tight deadlines.
  6. Maintain and improve project standards and ensure adherence across teams.
  7. Support a global code base and communicate changes across regions.
  8. Implement DevOps principles in application development.
Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering or Computer Science graduate with knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design.
  • Proficiency in Java and experience with low-latency messaging systems like Kafka and Solace, preferably on Unix platforms.
  • Experience with distributed systems within a Micro-Service architecture.
  • Understanding of security concepts with an analytical approach to root cause analysis and proactive improvements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming and design principles.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server), XML, and JSON.
  • Familiarity with Agile, TDD, Continuous Delivery, and system integration.
  • Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms using Kubernetes.
