Job Description

The Applied Innovation of AI (AI2) team is an elite machine learning group strategically located within the CTO office of JP Morgan Chase. AI2 tackles business-critical priorities using innovative machine learning techniques and technologies, focusing on AI for Data, Software, Cybersecurity & Controls, and Technology Infrastructure. The team collaborates closely with all lines of business and engineering teams across the firm to execute long-term projects that require significant machine learning development to support JPMC businesses as they grow. We are seeking excellent data engineers to assist with the design, development, deployment, delivery, and maintenance of AI products for our clients. In this role, you will work with other engineers and data scientists to build and maintain software and infrastructure supporting our team in developing and delivering disruptive AI products for our customers in production.

Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to deliver products to production.
  2. Build and maintain scalable infrastructure as code in the cloud (private & public).
  3. Manage infrastructure for model training, serving, and governance.
  4. Manage data infrastructure supporting inference pipelines.
  5. Contribute to architecture and software management discussions and tasks.
  6. Rapid prototyping and shortening development cycles for software and AI/ML products.
  7. Build infrastructure for AI/ML data pipelines, covering data analysis, experimentation, model training, evaluation, deployment, operationalization, tuning, and visualization.
  8. Improve and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with stakeholders and testing partners.
  9. Increase deployment velocity, including processes for deploying models and data pipelines into production.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience with AWS cloud services (S3, Lambda, Aurora, ECS, EKS, SageMaker, Bedrock, Athena, Secrets Manager, Certificate Manager, etc.).
  • Proven DevOps/MLOps experience with infrastructure provisioning tools like Terraform, Ansible, AWS CDK, CloudFormation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker).
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and Datadog.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting with modern languages like Python.
  • Strong software design, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in a team.
Desirable
  • Strong commitment to development best practices and code reviews.
  • Dedication to continuous learning, sharing best practices, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
  • Experience with data labeling, validation, provenance, and versioning.
