Prospero Teaching's client primary school in Portsmouth is looking for a highly effective Business Manager to lead and manage a dedicated, friendly team.

About You:

We are looking for a positive, detail-oriented individual with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in financial accounting and budget management.

  • Knowledge of personnel matters and school-based systems (or a willingness to learn-training provided).

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide a team effectively.

  • Confidence in preparing financial reports for governing body meetings.

  • Excellent communication skills, ensuring interactions are warm and professional.

  • Outstanding organisational abilities, with a talent for prioritising tasks efficiently.

  • Sound judgement and integrity, maintaining confidentiality at all times.



Key Responsibilities:

As Business Manager, you will:

  • Support the Headteacher in managing and monitoring the school budget.

  • Prepare reports for the Headteacher and governors.

  • Oversee daily financial systems, ensuring smooth operations.

  • Take responsibility for school personnel administration, including handling new starter/leaver paperwork.

  • Act as GDPR Officer, ensuring data protection procedures are followed.

  • Oversee Health & Safety in partnership with school leadership.



Salary & Hours:

  • Salary Scale : 35,000 - 45,000

  • Monday - Friday, 08:30am - 16:30pm

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
