What is great about the role?

Working in our Caerphilly and Newport Area Neighbourhoods, you will be responsible for resolving issues of nuisance. We are a housing provider who targets zero evictions and you will have a key role to play in delivering this commitment. You will be connected to our customers, you’ll know at an early stage if things are going wrong and you can call upon support of our community development and housing support services to assist our customers to continue to live in their homes. You'll have the opportunity to employ innovative approaches like mediation and restorative justice to tackle anti-social behaviour while maintaining the highest standards of customer care and property safety.

Where does the role fit in?

As a Community Safety Manager, you'll be an integral part of our Housing Operations - Neighbourhood team based in Newport and Caerphilly. Reporting directly to the Area Neighbourhood Manager, you'll play a key role in managing day-to-day caseloads, working with Neighbourhood Housing Managers, liaising with internal and external agencies, and representing Pobl in legal proceedings.

What skills and experience do you need?

We are looking for someone who is committed to ensuring that a customer-focused service is provided, and that service delivery is to the highest standards of customer care and quality. We would like someone with experience of working in social housing and experience of working in partnership with external agencies.

Part of your role will be to utilise and apply mediation techniques when dealing with neighbourhood conflict in order to achieve effective resolution of problems and we are looking for someone with experience of working delivering mediation. You will attend court on behalf of Pobl sometimes in the capacity of a witness and attend evictions as required. Prevention is key but we will, from time to time, need to go to court so you will need to be a confident advocate for us and our customers who are experiencing anti-social behaviour. Therefore, experience of preparing court bundles and representing Pobl in court is needed.

You will need to have good IT skills and knowledge of general office IT systems e.g. email, Word, Excel, presentation packages.

What are the pay and benefits?

The salary for this role is £37,256 for a Full Time, Fixed Term role at 37 hours per week. Role ends 31st December 2025.

  • 26 days holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays, rising to 30 days with length of service – this is based on 1 year's work.
  • Working days are predominately Monday to Friday days, we have a blended and flexible approach to the work we deliver. Modern vibrant work spaces and with agile working you can maximise your work-life balance. The role will include working closely with the local community of Newport and Caerphilly, engaging with customers within this area.
  • It is essential for the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a car.
  • The role requires a basic DBS which we pay for.
  • Mileage paid at 45p per mile.

It is possible this will change to a one stage interview just taking place on the 27th May.
