Early Years Manager - May - Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Hours: 08:00-18:00, Monday – Friday. (Total hours will not exceed 47.5 hours per week)
Salary: £580.24 - £718.65 per week, depending on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size
Note: February Half Term Contracts will be issued at the 2023 wage level. The 2024 wage level will be effective from 1st April.
Report to: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

Early Years Manager Duties
- Support and deliver induction training and oversee setup days before camp
- Complete paperwork and manage high-risk activities in accordance with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice
- Enforce health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment
- Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage by planning Explore and Play sessions
- Designated Person (DP) for Safeguarding, handling child protection and safeguarding issues
- Update and communicate regularly with Area Managers and Central Office
- Conduct observations and participate in high-risk activities with staff and children
- Regularly check staff understanding of safeguarding procedures
- Main contact for OFSTED inspectors during camp
- Communicate with parents, complete administrative tasks, and manage Early Years staff
- Maintain tidiness of site and baserooms, and ensure equipment is stored properly
- Assess and review staff performance for end-of-season evaluations
- Support staff during sessions as needed
Requirements
- Attend mandatory senior training events
- Early Years qualified (e.g., CACHE Level 3, Primary PGCE, BA Primary Education)
- Experience in a childcare setting
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS check via Barracudas or on the Update Service
- Satisfactory professional and academic references
- Attend and deliver induction training before camp opens
- Complete annual online training
- Coordinate camp pack-up at the end of the season
- Minimum of 1-2 senior staff members trained in Paediatric First Aid, depending on camp size
Additional Responsibilities
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently
- Proactively address safety issues
- Prepare for induction training using relevant manuals
- Evaluate staff at the end of their contracts
- Report child protection concerns appropriately
- Be aware of children with additional medical or dietary needs and assist with reasonable adjustments
- Administer medication correctly and document appropriately
- Bring swimwear daily for swimming sessions
