Qualifications

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a Conference & Banqueting Manager to join our award-winning Food & Beverage team at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa.

Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5-star hotels. As the largest 5-star hotel, we have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities in Edinburgh, with a capacity of up to 500, including our One Square Restaurant and bar.

Role:

Monitor daily operations of the Banqueting Department, providing support and guidance to ensure successful and guest-focused events.

Essential Functions:

  • Review communication and event orders to determine staffing, room setup, décor, and enhancements; coordinate changes across departments.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure all specifications are communicated and executed for successful meetings.
  • Oversee timely setup of functions, maintaining standards and communication among staff.
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Create and implement training plans to ensure high-quality customer service.
  • Manage inventory and equipment control.
  • Train and coach staff to maintain high service levels.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures for banqueting operations.
  • Manage monthly scheduling, payroll, and expenses to stay within budget.

Requirements:

Seeking energetic, passionate, self-motivated candidates with at least 5 years’ experience in a large-volume F&B/Banqueting Department within a 5-star environment, including supervisory/management experience. Flexibility and a desire for continual improvement are essential.

Key skills include:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Strong computer skills and data analysis abilities
  • Knowledge of room setups and event types
  • Effective communication across organizational levels
  • Exceptional customer service, preferably at 5-star level
  • Interpersonal, sales, organizational, and supervisory skills
  • Extensive food and beverage knowledge and pricing expertise
  • Significant conference and banqueting experience with good local area knowledge
