Job Description:

Location: UK-Based (Remote or Hybrid) | Open to Worldwide Candidates - Part-time (contract also considered)

We are seeking a creative and passionate Assistant Toy Product Designer to assist with adding to our range of interactive and educational Islamic toys. The ideal candidate will have strong design skills, and a deep understanding of the Islamic faith and culture, to help create meaningful and engaging toys for children. Good command of the Arabic language, verbal and written is also essential. This role involves designing interactive electronic toys and spans categories like electronic pads, sound books, and plush talking toys with education of Islam and the Arabic language at its core. 3D modeling experience is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Toy Product Design: Working alongside the founder of the company, you will assist in researching and designing various toys, including interactive plush dolls, electronic learning pads, talking books, and talking wooden toys, incorporating Islamic themes and values.
• Concept Development: Brainstorm and develop new toy ideas that align with Islamic educational principles, ensuring they are engaging, fun, and meaningful.
• Material & Fabric Selection: Choose appropriate materials, fabrics, and patterns for toys, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
• Islamic Influence Integration: Incorporate Islamic and traditional designs into toys and packaging to create an authentic experience.
• Robotic/Animatronic Toy Design: Explore and integrate electronic, mechanical, and AI-driven interactivity into toy designs to enhance engagement and learning.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the design, production, and marketing teams to bring concepts to life and ensure alignment with the brand’s vision.
• Design Support: Assist with initial concept sketches and basic 3D modeling for pitch decks for licenses.
• Tech Packs: Help prepare technical documentation.
• 3D Printing: Support prototype development.
• Packaging Design Concepts/Unboxing Experience: Assist with packaging design elements.
• Help maintain design files and archives.

Research & Development Support:

• Conduct market research on Islamic toy trends.
• Research materials and manufacturing processes.
• Sourcing components.
• Assist in user testing documentation: support user testing sessions and follow-up.
• Create initial C coding flows: for basic electronic toys and product UX review documentation.
• Analyze external UX/UI testing reports: and provide feedback to the team.
• Support sustainability initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in Toy Design: Prior experience in toy or product design, especially in interactive or electronic toys, plush and non-plush.
• Knowledge of Islamic faith: Understanding Islamic teachings, traditions, and cultural sensitivities to design aligned toys.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and verbal, with Arabic keyboard skills.
• Strong Illustration & Graphic Design skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or other design tools for concept development and packaging.
• 3D Modeling & Prototyping: Basic proficiency in software like SolidWorks, Onshape, Rhino, Blender is a plus.
• Creative Thinking: Ability to generate innovative toy concepts.
• Collaboration & Communication: Effective teamwork skills across departments.
• Project Management: Knowledge of tools like Asana, ClickUp, or Notion is advantageous.
• Attention to Detail: Producing accurate tech packs and checking samples.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with AI in Toy Design: Knowledge of AI applications in toys.
• Motion Graphics & Animation: Ability to create animations or interactive elements.
• Knowledge of Safety Standards: Understanding toy safety regulations and compliance.
• Engineering Knowledge: Injection molding and plush toy manufacturing.
