Job Summary

The Data and Performance Analyst will work as part of a small specialist team to maintain and develop data and performance insight within the DBS. The role involves developing a high level of expertise of DBS data to provide performance data that informs decision making and drives DBS performance.

The role is varied and challenging. It offers excellent development and progression opportunities and the platform to learn new skills and engage with other areas of the business.

The work you complete requires strong data analysis skills, a good understanding of improving data quality, creative vision and visualisation skills and a good attention to detail. We are a busy team so there is a focus on efficient use of time and resource, data quality assurance and high-quality execution of data and reports.

We are developing our function and will be deploying a range of statistical methods to draw relevant and actionable insight from our analysis to better understand business objectives and be that critical friend that helps to drive high performance across the business.

As a Data and Performance Analyst, you will provide valuable information and evidence to inform operational decisions that are crucial in supporting delivery of organisation targets and strategic objectives.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Identify relevant sources of data from IT systems and other sources for modelling and reporting purposes
  • Support the collection, analysis, and modelling of data to provide a range of accurate products to support operational running. This may include workload and workforce planning/forecasting.
  • Provide support in the production and delivery of regular management information reports to inform decision making, drive efficiency and improve effectiveness of Operational Services function. This will involve capturing and developing data requirements to ensure that indicators are created with useable and accessible data that informs operational performance and other key analytical outputs.
  • Use visualisation tools to develop and continually improve dashboards, with an emphasis on data quality assurance and high-quality execution to support analytical thinking and aid operational decision making.
  • Ensure validation procedures and processes are in place to provide assurance that data is accurate at all times and seek out opportunities to continually improve processes.
  • Utilise the use of IT software (including a Data Warehouse system) to enhance the delivery of Management Information.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with external stakeholders and work collaboratively with internal customers such as data engineers, data analysts and operational teams.
  • Provide support in the delivery of short-term analytical projects.

The Successful Candidate Will

Person specification

Essential Criteria

Ability: Excellent team working skills, with an ability to work autonomously when required; Good stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging with people at all levels of the organisation

Experience: Experienced user of MS Excel and Access; Engaging with stakeholders to better understand their reporting/data requirements; Use data analysis effectively to inform decision making or achieve a business outcome.

Desirable Criteria

Ability: Excellent data visualisation and interpretation skills

Experience: Developing visual reporting products that interpret data through visualisation techniques and tools (such as MS Power BI, Qlik, etc) for a varied audience; Application of statistical and/or data modelling methodologies

Technical: Data tooling: knowledge and experience of using modern tools for analysis and visualisation; experience in Power BI and SQL would be advantageous
