Here at the Science Museum Group (SMG) we share our unparalleled collection spanning science, technology, mathematics and medicine with millions of visitors each year.
We are now recruiting for a full-time Senior Press Officer working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract. This role is based at the Science Museum in London, with hybrid working also available.
About the role
As Senior Press Officer you'll make a significant contribution to the realisation of our ambition of becoming the best museum group in the world and help us achieve our core objective to Inspire Futures. You will be critical to the successful functioning of the Communications team, which comprises marketing, press, internal communications and social media.
Reporting to the Head of PR, you will support the museum's communications strategy, helping pursue our mission and deliver increased footfall and revenue generation at the Science Museum.
You will be responsible for facilitating media activities, harnessing media relationships and SMG's digital channels to tell compelling and authentic stories about the Science Museum and effectively promote our distinctive programme of events, experiences, galleries and exhibitions.
About you
Joining us you will have experience working within a relevant PR, press office, communications or journalistic role. You will have demonstrable experience working on creative, integrated communications campaigns with the ability to use your written and verbal communication skills to produce creative and effective PR and communications copy for a range of purposes, from press releases to blog posts.
Crucially, you will have the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and effectively with media, partners and stakeholders to build strong relationships and high quality media coverage through PR activity. You will have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise complex and competing workloads under budget, resource and time pressures.
