Job Description

Schmidt Industrial Services LLC is seeking an ASME Code Fitter/Welder to join our team in Chester, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the fabrication of heavy gauge code storage tanks and vessels, serving industries such as oil and gas, energy, chemical manufacturing, confectionery (primarily chocolate) production, and waste/waste water management.

Requirements:
  1. Ability to replace consumables on both MIG and TIG torches and determine if the machine is operating properly. Maintain cleanliness of welding machines.
  2. Ability to adjust controls for volts, amps, wire speed, etc.
  3. Ability to select the correct filler metal for each job.
  4. Notify supervisor when welding supplies are low.
  5. Knowledge of how to read and use weld gauges.
  6. Understanding of weld symbols.
  7. Determine the required weld size prior to welding; if not provided, consult the supervisor or review the drawing.
  8. Produce quality welds in both MIG and TIG, with the ability to pass visual, PT, MT, or X-ray testing.
  9. Grind or remove scale prior to welding if necessary.
  10. Remove any spatter or pimpling produced during welding.
  11. Maintain a neat and clean work area.
