We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Childbase Partnership, an employee-owned company, as an Apprentice at our Grasshoppers Day Nursery located at 20 York Road, St Albans, Herts, AL1 4PL.

We are looking for a special individual who:

  • is naturally nurturing, caring, and compassionate
  • has an interest in child development and how children learn
  • can be a positive role model for children
  • enjoys working within a team environment

This early years apprenticeship will start in October 2024 and will train you to provide outstanding care and education to young children. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • working as part of a team to create and maintain safe, supportive learning environments, planning and implementing activities to promote development, and completing observations linked to the early years curriculum
  • interacting positively with all nursery users and collaborating with colleagues and parents to meet each child's individual needs
  • adhering to nursery routines and policies, and seeking guidance from your leadership team as needed
  • managing your time effectively to meet coursework deadlines set by your trainer/assessor

By the end of the apprenticeship, you will gain:

  • a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner or a Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce, determined by an online assessment during shortlisting
  • Level 2 functional skills in maths and English if you do not already have equivalent qualifications
  • a permanent contract upon successful qualification completion, with the potential to be appointed as a qualified Nursery Nurse

Our apprenticeship offers:

  • a full-time role (37.5 hours/week) working with children under 5
  • varied shift patterns, typically between 07:15 and 18:30, Monday to Friday
  • ‘off the job’ learning time to support your studies
  • regular visits from a childcare trainer/assessor from our in-house Training Academy of Excellence
  • 11 group training sessions at our head office in Newport Pagnell
