Job description

Early Years Manager - May - Long Road, Cambridge

Hours: 08:00-18:00, Monday - Friday. (Total hours will not exceed 47.5 hours per week)

Salary: £580.24 - £718.65 per week, depending on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size

Note: February Half Term Contracts to be issued on 2023 wage level. 2024 wage level effective from 1st April.

Reports to: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

Early Years Manager Duties
  • Support and deliver induction training and oversee setup days before camp
  • Complete paperwork and manage high-risk activities in accordance with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice
  • Enforce health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage by planning explore and play sessions
  • Act as the Designated Person (DP) for safeguarding, dealing with child protection issues
  • Update and communicate regularly with Area Managers and Central Office
  • Conduct observations and participate in high-risk activities with staff and children
  • Monitor staff understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • Main contact for OFSTED inspectors during camp
  • Communicate with parents, handle administrative tasks, and manage staff
  • Maintain site and equipment tidiness and ensure proper packing away
  • Assess and review staff performance at season's end
  • Support staff during sessions as needed
Requirements
  • Attend compulsory senior training events
  • Early Years qualified (e.g., CACHE L3, PGCE, BA Primary Education)
  • Experience in a childcare setting
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS check (through Barracudas or on the Update Service)
  • Satisfactory references
  • Attend and deliver induction training before camp opens
  • Complete annual online training
  • Coordinate pack-up at camp end
  • Minimum of 1-2 senior staff members Paediatric First Aid trained, depending on camp size
Additional Responsibilities
  • Follow health and safety procedures diligently
  • Proactively address safety issues
  • Prepare for induction training using manuals
  • Evaluate staff performance at contract end
  • Report safeguarding concerns to Central Office
  • Be aware of and support children with additional needs
  • Administer medication following EI forms and document appropriately
  • Bring swimwear daily for swimming sessions
  • Perform other tasks as required by the organization’s needs
