Job description

Lab Technician

Permanent role - continental shift pattern with generous time off

Must be able to work night shifts as part of the pattern

On-site role

We are seeking a motivated and qualified Lab Technician within our client's chemical and food manufacturing facilities in Hull. You will be working for an expanding global business with a friendly team of professionals.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Assuming responsibility for safety of self and others whilst at work, ensuring all requirements as laid down in the company's policy are implemented to fulfil legislative requirements.
  2. Performing a range of analytical and microbiological analyses on finished product and in-process samples.
  3. Interpreting results and initiating appropriate actions, including out-of-spec reports.
  4. Calibrating analytical equipment as required.
  5. Carrying out quality control and housekeeping inspections and advising supervisors or relevant managers of any issues arising from such.
  6. Analyzing and monitoring plant processes.
  7. Ensuring all standards and requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 quality system pertaining to the laboratory are adhered to.
  8. Collating fermentation quality and process information reports.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 6 months relevant lab experience in a commercial setting in microbiology or chemistry labs.

Ideal industry experience includes: food, chemicals, petrochemicals.

A biotechnology, microbiology, or food science degree is preferred but not essential.
