Private Client Solicitor - 5+ PQE
Legal 500 Law Firm
Location: Putney, London

A legal 500 ranked law firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Private Client Solicitor to join its highly regarded Private Client team, based in Putney.

The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to join a large and expanding team, known for its technical expertise and broad private client offering. The successful candidate will handle a varied caseload, advising individuals, families, and business owners on all aspects of private client law, including wills, trusts, estate administration, tax planning, and capacity issues.

The role includes exposure to cross-border work, supported by colleagues with dual qualifications, and provides excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a full caseload of private client matters independently
  • Advising on wills, trusts, estate and succession planning, tax issues, and mental capacity matters
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and professional contacts
  • Contributing to business development activities such as networking, article writing, and developing referrer relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members, including trainees and paralegals
  • Achieving financial targets through effective matter management, time recording, and billing
  • Participating in firm-wide initiatives and events


The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE in private client law
  • Academically strong (minimum 2:1 degree, ideally with a commendation at LPC)
  • Experienced across a broad range of private client work, including wills, probate, trusts, tax, and capacity issues
  • STEP qualified (or working towards) or holding other tax-focused qualifications such as ATT or CTA (supported by the firm)
  • Commercially aware, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proactive in business development and marketing activities
  • Organised, financially astute, and committed to delivering a high level of client service
