Salary: GBP0 - GBP36,500 per annum
Purpose of the role
To ensure that Heidelberg Materials UK products are delivered to customers in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner. To uphold the professional standards of the company at all times. To apply all aspects of Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, Road Transport Law, and Company procedures as part of daily routines. The regional logistics function manages distribution operations to meet customer requirements, improve overall performance, and ensure statutory compliance.
Key accountabilities
- Maintain the vehicle and all entrusted equipment, keeping them clean and ensuring all records comply with current legislation and company procedures.
- Follow relevant company personnel and administrative policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport regulatory requirements.
- Manage waste disposal, water discharges, and dust emissions according to Environmental procedures.
- Perform deliveries efficiently, cost-effectively, and courteously.
- Ensure timely and consistent attendance at the operating unit to meet company requirements.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
- Operate specialized vehicles (walking floor/rolling floor/tipper/concrete mixer) as required.
- Be flexible regarding location and willing to work away overnight based on customer demand, supporting high volumes in other areas if necessary.
- Be willing to undergo further training, including CRB/Scottish Disclosure checks.
- Maintain high safety standards and strictly follow site rules.
Education/Qualifications
- GCSE grade 4+ (equivalent to a C in Maths and English)
- Full knowledge of Road Transport Law, Working Time Directive, and relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
- Current DCPC card
- Valid EPIC/MPQC card
- Ability to identify and report issues
- Motivated, physically fit, and capable of working independently
- Flexible with working hours, including periods away from base (nights out)
