Job description

Job Title:
Analyst – Food (Public Analyst)

Department:
Analytical Services Division – Food Laboratory

Salary:
Dependent on experience

Position:
Permanent (M – F, 37½ hrs/week)

We are looking for a candidate with great attention to detail, high integrity, reliability, and maturity. The ideal candidate will be qualified with a science degree and have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  1. Food and agriculture testing
  2. Practical abilities in titrimetry, gravimetry, and wet chemistry are essential.
Desirable Skills and Experience:

Familiarity with analysis instrumentation techniques such as HPLC, GC, ICP, UV-vis, q-PCR, ELISA (for allergens) is desirable.

Preference will be given to candidates with laboratory experience in:

  • Instrumentation techniques of analysis, e.g., GC, ICP, UV-vis, q-PCR
  • GAFTA methods of analysis
  • FOSFA methods of analysis
  • Food enforcement testing
  • Wider food and water analysis experience
