Job description

A leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Designer to join their team in Liverpool. The Senior Principal Designer Role

As Senior Principal Designer, you will take a key leadership role in ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations while embedding health and safety into the design and construction phases of projects. You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and design teams to provide expert advice on design risk management and regulatory compliance across a variety of sectors. This role offers excellent opportunities for career progression within a thriving and supportive team.

Senior Principal Designer Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.
  2. Provide expert guidance on design risk management and health and safety practices.
  3. Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to embed safety into all stages of project delivery.
  4. Prepare and review pre-construction information and construction phase plans.
  5. Conduct site visits and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  6. Support the growth and development of the consultancy’s CDM services.
  7. Mentor and guide junior team members to ensure high standards of service delivery.

The Ideal Senior Principal Designer Candidate

  1. Degree in a construction-related field or equivalent professional experience.
  2. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  3. Membership with APS (IMaPS or CMaPS) or similar accreditation.
  4. Extensive experience as a Principal Designer or CDM Consultant within the construction industry.
  5. Comprehensive knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety best practices.
  6. Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  7. Proven ability to manage multiple projects across various sectors effectively.
