The Nursery Services Team supports children to become capable, confident, and independent individuals. They provide a safe, developmentally inclusive environment for babies (0-2 years), toddlers (2-3 years), and preschool children (3-5 years).

We are currently recruiting for the position of Nursery Nurse. Are you a Qualified Nursery Practitioner holding a minimum Level 3 in childcare or equivalent?

Full Time position available - 37.5 hours per week.

Starting Salary: £23,176 per annum, plus 2.5 hours per week paid at time and a half.

Includes 32 days holiday per year plus 8 bank holidays, including Christmas and New Year Off.

Requirements

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

  • A great understanding of child development and Curriculum for Wales
  • A passion and enthusiasm for childcare
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal
  • Good timekeeping, organization, and reliability

Job Description
Main Duties
  • Supervise and care for children.
  • Participate in a key worker scheme.
  • Provide effective liaison with parents.
  • Set up nursery equipment, sterilize baby equipment, and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Carry out laundry duties.
  • Keep records, including development books.
  • Report issues to management.
  • Administer first aid as required.
  • Attend training and identify personal training needs.
  • Participate in quality and customer care initiatives.
  • Abide by university policies on health & safety and legal requirements.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

The role requires flexibility and involves working 5 days out of 7 (pro-rata for part-time).

Essential Criteria
  • BTEC, NNEB, CACHE Diploma, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent.

  • Effective team working skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and organize effectively.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification or willingness to attain it.

Desirable Criteria
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh or willingness to learn.
