Job description

Primary location: Oakland, California
Employment status: Full-Time

Compensation: Hourly rate range is $23.72 - $29.68/hr. Individual pay will be based upon skills, expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.

Shift schedule: Monday - Friday, 6am - 2:30pm. Must be willing and available to work overtime as needed.

Company overview: MOZ Designs, Inc. specializes in high-end architectural metal fabrication for the commercial, hospitality, institutional, and retail industries. We design and manufacture a variety of architectural products including column covers, metal paneling, signage, fixtures, art design, and more. We are seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time Laser Operator position within our Production Team in Oakland, CA.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review the schedule of jobs and execute plans within scheduled production time; report work via shop floor computer system.
  2. Operate Fiber Laser Machine, with at least 5 years of experience and team leadership skills.
  3. Examine products for quality and make necessary adjustments.
  4. Perform minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance on cutter machines, including cleaning scrap trays and filters.
  5. Follow all safety and work rules and regulations; maintain housekeeping standards.
  6. Assist in other finishing and cleaning operations as needed.
Experience and Education:
  • 5-8 years of experience, with leadership ability.
  • Previous CNC Fiber Laser, CO2, or water cutting experience (within last 3 years).
  • Experience with laser cutting metals such as aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measuring equipment; tolerances are key.
  • Basic computer knowledge; shop floor computer systems and programming are a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical inclination for repair and maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; secondary/trade training highly desired.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical requirements:
  • Lift and/or move objects weighing 10-50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequently lift objects over 100 pounds using mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders of varying heights.
  • Work in various weather and temperature conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
  • Adhere to all safety and hygiene regulations.
