Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Health Visiting

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer a suitable applicant an exciting opportunity to develop their career through the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Health Visitor training. This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months starting in September 2025.

  • To work towards gaining the standards of proficiency for entry to the NMC register Part 3.
  • Full-time study commencing September 2025 for 12 months.
  • 50% of the course is academic, delivered at MSc level by the University of the West of England (UWE).
  • Travel to Bristol will be required for study sessions.
  • 50% of the course will be delivered locally within Torbay.

  • The Torbay 0 to 19 Partnership is a collaboration between health visiting, school nursing, and Action for Children. The student SCPHN will work alongside a practice assessor and supervisor who will offer support and learning outcomes for practice. Students will be based within a 0-19 Team in Torbay. During this time, skills will be developed to enable the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in various community settings, including the family home, children’s centres, schools, and nurseries, whilst working as part of a skilled team.
