Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior or Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer to support our regional Development Team in Manchester or Leeds, specializing in civil engineering for development infrastructure.

You will work within a team supporting the production of designs and drawings for construction projects and technical reports for masterplanning in support of planning applications. You can expect to be active on several projects and client accounts simultaneously. You will report to a senior member of the Development Team.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of concept studies/strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction drawings.
  • Contribute to various development projects across sectors and clients.
  • Manage multiple projects and client accounts concurrently.
  • Provide guidance and support to technical staff of various grades.
  • Engage in client relations, stakeholder management, design team liaison, and project management.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet technical standards and legal requirements.
About the Team

The Development Team is a high-performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, comprising over 800 colleagues focused on project delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications
  • Experience in highway design, drainage, flood risk assessment, utility planning, and a good understanding of the development industry.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and building structures is desirable.
  • Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, and drawings.
  • Familiarity with relevant design codes and software such as InfoDrainage and Civils 3D.
  • Excellent communication skills and awareness of sustainability and climate change guidance.
  • Experience liaising with clients, authorities, and design teams, and understanding legal and procedural aspects of development projects.
  • Postgraduate experience or nearing Chartership, with substantial professional responsibility.
