Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Oral Surgery Dental Team at Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust. The post will be based across multiple sites, including Birmingham Dental Hospital, Lyng Health Centre, Dental Outreach Centre, Boots High Street, Birmingham.

This role involves providing care for both adults and children under local anaesthetic, sedation, and general anaesthetic. Additionally, you will work in the urgent care department at Birmingham Dental Hospital, assisting patients in acute pain. The post will involve delegated lead roles as assigned by the Head of Service.

This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are negotiable.

Main duties of the job

The department is expanding in response to local needs. The oral surgery team collaborates closely with Oral Medicine, Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Restorative, and Special Care services. The team works with the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry, and the successful candidate will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We are involved in DCT, StR, Hygiene & Therapy, and Dental Nurse training, and we plan to expand our dental sedation courses. Treatments include LA, sedation, and GA.

Successful candidates should offer flexibility around three established clinical session days.

Qualifications (Essential):

  • BDS
  • Full GDC Registration with a Licence to Practice
  • MFDS or MJDF or equivalent
  • Post-graduate Sedation Qualification or experience per IACSD
  • On the GDC Specialist Register in Oral Surgery

  • Post Graduate Teaching Qualification
