Job description

More about the role

As Data Engineer you will contribute to the design and build of required infrastructure to support optimal extraction, transformation, and load of data from various sources. Integration, setup, and maintenance of analytical tools. Pipeline maintenance, monitoring and performance.

This role forms part of the IT department with specific responsibility for Business Intelligence. As part of this, the role has the following accountabilities.

  • Responsible for every step of data flow
  • Design, maintenance, and configuration of the data pipelines/platforms and sources
  • Integration and validation of new software and technical solutions
  • Stability, monitoring and performance of data pipelines
  • Provide effective technical leadership to enable technical solutions to be appropriately delivered
  • Work as a multi-agency team with our partners and business owners to identify and develop effective solutions that identifies and addresses data quality issues
  • Provide support to existing business systems and BI via the Service Desk where appropriate.
Your experience

The Data Engineer role demands expertise in data management and the creation of data solutions aligned with specific business needs. It requires a track record of providing high-level technical leadership that yields innovative and fitting technical solutions. The role involves understanding business issues, questioning established solutions, and anticipating the future business and technological landscape. Initiative is key to enhancing and advocating for Victrex's technical architecture and services. Meticulous attention to detail is necessary for addressing data discrepancies and reporting findings to the business.

Our ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of standard Enterprise IT solutions and data modelling in a manufacturing and distribution context is essential. Experience with leading BI tools in Azure, ETL, Streaming Data and Data Warehousing such as Synapse Analytics, Power BI, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, ADF and related platforms is crucial. Advanced T-SQL programming skills and deep knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases are important. Familiarity with Microsoft ERP products and data, including D365, is advantageous. Experience in a structured project management setting, such as AGILE, Kanban, or PRINCE2, is also beneficial. Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate would be desirable.
