Rullion is looking to recruit the following role:

Senior EHS Advisor
  • Location: Northern Scotland
  • ASAP Start
  • 6 months initial contract - Permanent position also available
  • Outside IR35
  • £400-500 Per day
  • Site based
  • Qualification required and must know and have worked with Scottish Legislation
  • 10 hours per day on site
Role Summary

An experienced professional in the construction/engineering environment, providing expert environmental advice and support to Site, Bid, and Project Delivery Teams, to support the successful acquisition and delivery of transmission projects across Scotland (mainland and the islands). Acting as a key point of contact for project environmental issues, while supporting and providing input to internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the role will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS) across office and project sites within Siemens Energy Transmission.

The role involves developing successful working relationships across multiple levels of the business to ensure alignment and effective delivery of products and solutions that meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal policies. It includes liaising with regulatory bodies (e.g., EA, SEPA, Natural England) to apply for secondary environmental consents as needed.

With increasing awareness of environmental sustainability, the role is also critical in ensuring the business exceeds its global commitments by promoting environmental protection, resource efficiency, and reducing carbon footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support and assist the Environmental Manager in improving the environmental and energy management systems to meet environmental objectives and targets.
  2. Monitor changes to UK and European environmental legislation impacting the business and update processes accordingly.
  3. Advise project delivery and site management teams to ensure compliance with Siemens Energy EMS and legislation.
  4. Ensure all employees understand their statutory duties and environmental procedures.
  5. Attend project and site meetings, providing environmental input and ensuring actions are implemented.
  6. Apply for necessary permits and ensure compliance with consent conditions via the Project Environmental Management Plan.
  7. Coordinate with third-party Environmental Clerks of Works (ECoW) and subcontractors.
  8. Conduct environmental audits and inspections to monitor compliance and resource efficiency.
  9. Identify environmental impacts and assist in establishing controls.
  10. Report and investigate environmental near misses and incidents, implementing corrective actions.
  11. Assist with environmental site monitoring and audits, reporting findings to management.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant discipline; Practitioner or Full Member of IEMA (or equivalent).
  • Experience as an Internal Auditor in ISO 14001.
  • Experience in construction/built environment, delivering complex engineering solutions.
  • >4 years' operational experience, including working with regulators like SEPA and applying for permits.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Driving license and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Excellent communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills.
Desirable
  • Experience in the transmission industry.
  • Masters' qualification.
  • Leadership or management qualification.
  • Internal auditor in ISO 50001.
  • Experience with carbon reporting, embodied carbon calculations, and delivering training.
  • Lead auditor and investigation training.
  • Experience in transmission projects.
Optional
  • H&S Qualifications/Human Factors training.
