Job description

Job Summary

Newham Health Collaborative (NHC), a Community Interest Company, is seeking to recruit a Non-Executive Director (NED) with a background in Finance. The appointment will be considered by the NHC Board following a formal selection process.

The Non-Executive Director will ensure that the Board acts in the best interests of NHC, its service users, members, and the wider public, working collaboratively with the Chair to support NHC.

The NHC Board comprises 10 members: 7 General Practitioners, one non-Executive Board member, and the Chief Executive.

The successful candidate will demonstrate alignment with the NHC NED competency framework and support the CIC's development to promote community health.

Main duties of the job

1. Support the Chair and Board to ensure good governance.
2. Assist in maintaining the quality and safety of healthcare services.
3. Promote high standards of probity, integrity, and governance within NHC.
4. Help set strategic aims and ensure necessary resources are in place.
5. Collaborate with the Finance Director and Chief Executive to oversee financial governance.

Person Specification

Essential Experience:

• Board or senior management experience in large, complex organizations
• Understanding of Company Director obligations
• Financial oversight, audit, and governance expertise
• Experience as an Audit Chair or similar role
• Strategic development and monitoring skills
• Interest or experience in primary care, mental health, acute, and community health services
• Ability to gain credibility with senior leaders, clinicians, and communities

Desirable Experience:

Additional Information

This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
