Falkirk Council is inviting applications from talented and enthusiastic procurement professionals to join our Corporate Procurement Unit (CPU) as a Principal Procurement Specialist on a full-time permanent basis.

Delivering sustained performance improvements across all priority spend areas and continually increasing the delivery of savings, income and other benefits, CPU are looking for a motivated individual to help our team achieve further success. Predominantly leading the Transport and Waste Categories, familiarity with these would be advantageous but not essential in regard to the progression of your application.

By striking a balance between cost, quality and sustainability, we are looking for a postholder who shall lead on procurement exercises across a broad range of commodity areas.

Candidates must have experience and the technical knowledge to carry out complex procurement projects, including but not limited to open tendering procedures to establish contracts and frameworks, as well as be proficient in calling off from existing collaborative frameworks.

Working as part of a successful and valued team, you shall have exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build strong relationships at a local and national level. You shall be required to engage with stakeholders across Falkirk Council as well as a wide range of external organisations.

We are looking for a candidate with exceptional public sector skills and the right attitude to help us continue to support communities, reduce inequalities, foster a thriving economy and embrace a greener future.

Interviews shall take place in person at our office, The Foundry in Larbert, during the week commencing 2 June 2025. Candidates invited to interview will be required to deliver a presentation on a topical area of Procurement and will be notified of the subject area at least one week prior to the interview.
