Job description

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, a CQC Outstanding-rated organisation, is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dedicated Urgent Care Assessment Team for the southern region of the county, based in Northampton.

We are offering a £40,000 welcome bonus to the successful candidate, payable over the first two years of employment.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Provide mental health assessments following referrals from recognised sources, responding to the needs of the home treatment caseload.
  2. Act as gatekeeper to acute inpatient care.
  3. Deliver rapid response to referrals to UCAT, offering intensive, flexible interventions to service users, families, and carers.
  4. Address social issues surrounding crises from the outset.
  5. Engage assertively with service users.
  6. Provide practical problem-solving support.
  7. Administer and supervise medication.
  8. Offer time-limited, flexible interventions tailored to individual needs.
  9. Learn from crisis situations to improve future responses.
  10. Ensure continuity of care by linking service users to further care pathways.
