First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business, which is looking to recruit multiple HGV Vehicle Mechanics on a permanent basis due to growth. The position is based at their Ruislip depot.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Service, maintain, and repair vehicle components and accessories, following company, client, and manufacturer instructions, including safe removal and refitting using provided equipment.
- Diagnose faults and test vehicles using available equipment and recognized procedures, including road testing when necessary.
- Work efficiently and productively, meeting targets set by Workshop Supervisors or Managers.
- Operate with a ‘Fix First Time’ approach, ensuring high-quality work that meets or exceeds inspection standards.
- Drive within legal parameters.
- Follow operator’s license procedures to safeguard the company’s license.
- Observe and report defects or symptoms of impending failure.
- Identify recharge costs and advise the Workshop Supervisor, completing all necessary paperwork.
- Order necessary parts from the parts department, ensuring only required parts are fitted.
- Interpret technical service information from manuals, bulletins, and data files, applying correct techniques.
- Complete all job-related documentation accurately, including job cards, parts orders, and logbooks.
- Report any tooling requirements to the Workshop Supervisor & Manager.

- Follow all health and safety procedures in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Ensure all processes and documentation meet ISO standards.
- Maintain and update quality procedures in line with the Group Quality manual.
- Keep tools and equipment in a safe, clean condition, reporting any issues.
- Protect vehicles against damage or soiling using appropriate covers.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area, disposing of waste properly.
- Stay updated on improvements and techniques to meet quality standards.
- Engage proactively in continuous improvement processes.
- Demonstrate safety, integrity, and commitment at all times.
- Maintain excellent communication within the team and the wider business.
- Protect company information assets following policies and procedures.
- Work within established company policies and promote company values.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Full UK Class C1 driving license.
- Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs/LGVs.
- Knowledge of HGV/LGV technical specifications and maintenance requirements.
- Understanding of health and safety standards.
- High attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.
