Job Description:

The UKIFS Communications team is at the heart of our organisation, actively shaping and influencing at all levels. We operate in an energising, complex, and mission-driven environment. We are currently seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Site Stakeholder Engagement Manager to join our team, leading many aspects of communications and engagement in and around the site at West Burton.

As the Senior Site Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will develop and deploy strategies that build and strengthen UKIFS and the STEP programme’s reputation across the East Midlands and beyond. You will lead the development and maintenance of excellent stakeholder relationships across regional and local government and the community. This role is integral to the development of the site team, including the integrated delivery team made up of industry partners and UKAEA. You will also play a lead role in local engagement related to the Development Consent Order and planning process for the West Burton site.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Site-Based Communications and Engagement:

  • Develop and deliver site-based communications and engagement plans, focusing on regional and local audiences.
  • Track site-based engagement and ensure sentiment is effectively captured and communicated.

Enhance Programme Reputation:

  • Develop and deliver plans to represent the programme at regional events in partnership with the Head of Communications and Engagement.
  • Identify and lead engagements to maintain and enhance the programme’s reputation.
  • Identify and capitalise on new engagement opportunities and communication channels.
  • Act as a regional spokesperson as required.

Local Supplier Engagement:

  • Develop and deliver strategies to build the local supply chain in partnership with the commercial team.
  • Lead events for local and regional suppliers to share information and build relationships.

Public Consultation for Development Consent Order:

  • Develop and deliver public consultation activities to enable a successful Development Consent Order application.
  • Lead the production of events and materials to support this process, fostering positive sentiment towards the programme.

Manage Requests and Complaints:

  • Manage requests for information and complaints effectively.
  • Establish and maintain systems for efficient management of requests.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of ‘stock answers’ to support enquiry management.

Team Development:

  • Manage and mentor the Site Communications Officer, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Support continuous improvement to achieve communications objectives.

Leadership Mindset:

  • Embody a leadership mindset and behaviours, embracing the organisation's culture, values, and mission.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment aligned with our cultural values.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, representing the organisation's values and professionalism.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, and community relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
  • Experience in complex, matrixed, programmatic environments.
  • Understanding of the role of national, regional, and local governments in projects like STEP.
  • Proven relationship builder with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in producing board-level papers and proposals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to act as an ambassador for the programme.
  • Strategic, creative, and innovative thinker.

Beneficial:

  • CIPR qualification.
  • Experience with significant infrastructure projects, particularly Development Consent Orders.
