Research and Development Technician

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £26,000 to £30,000 per annum + pension, share scheme and more.

Salary & Benefits:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the assembly and testing of new and enhanced steel door set products.
  • Conduct hands-on engineering tasks, following instructions from R&D Engineers.
  • Support value engineering projects by carrying out practical trials and adjustments.
  • Set up and operate in-house development tests, documenting results accurately.
  • Ensure components and prototypes are prepared to specification for further design validation.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while maintaining effective communication with the R&D Engineers.
  • Maintain and organise tools, equipment, and materials within the R&D workspace.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting practical enhancements based on testing outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven hands-on engineering or technical experience, preferably in product development or manufacturing.
  • Practical skills in assembly, testing, or mechanical adjustments.
  • Ability to interpret basic engineering instructions and drawings.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently within a small team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes or product testing equipment is an advantage.
  • Computer literate - experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
