We have an exciting opportunity for a Sonographer / Accredited Vascular Scientist to assist with training for the North East and North Cumbria AAA Screening Programme, based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital but requiring attendance at various screening sites within the catchment area.
The role involves abdominal ultrasound scanning in the community and supporting local training of Screening Technicians/Screening Nurse Practitioners. You will be part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team working with NAAASP approved vascular units to deliver patient-focused services and undertake training and development activities.
Applicants should have a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or be willing to work towards it.
A valid driving license and access to a car with business use insurance are required.
• Responsible for training, supervision, and quality assurance of Screening Technicians/Screening Nurse Practitioners in line with policies.
• Conduct accurate abdominal aortic ultrasound scans as part of the community screening program.
• Ensure all scans meet high standards and follow national procedures.
• Inform and educate the public about AAA screening implications.
• Provide health promotion for men with aneurysms.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide efficient patient services.
• Complete professional and technical training as required by the screening program.
