Job description

Support worker for a gentleman 10 hours per week @ £13.74/hr in Bedlington - BEDLINGTON - NE22

I am a 36-year-old gentleman looking for a personal care assistant to come and help me with all aspects of my day-to-day life. I live at home with my family and would like some time out and about accessing new things with somebody who understands me and my needs.

My parents would like some time to do things they enjoy and would like a worker who can support me on a Friday evening and/or a Saturday. We can be flexible for the right person. I am nonverbal and have limited means to express my needs.

I rely on my carers to anticipate and predict my needs. My family will provide guidance in the first instance, with understanding my communication and behaviours. I enjoy being outside and spending time at Cragside, Gibside Hall and other outdoor venues. I am very keen on swimming and somebody willing to do this activity with me would be greatly appreciated. I do use a wheelchair in the community and need an assistant who is physically able to support me when I am using this. Moving and handling demonstrations will be provided as appropriate. I will need my carers to help always keep me safe from danger.

The duties of the successful applicant will include, but not be limited to:

  1. medication administration
  2. personal care
  3. preparation of meals and drinks
  4. laundry and household tasks directly linked to my needs

All training will be provided via on-the-job, practical training, an online learning platform and face-to-face training as appropriate. A full enhanced DBS is required and the full cost will be met by the employer.
