The Youth & Justice Service is a dedicated service for children aged 11+ who need support. We offer a wide range of non-statutory and statutory interventions to children who are experiencing difficulties and challenges where support cannot be provided by universal services alone. We have strong relationships with wider services & partnerships supporting children and their families to ensure that we can jointly deliver the best possible support and care.

About the Role

We are looking for people who are passionate and committed to working with children who can:

  • Work alongside other youth work staff to deliver group work activities in group work settings.
  • Show support to your colleagues in a team setting.
  • Work in youth group work settings to deliver youth work activities
  • Be flexible to meet the needs of children who may attend our group work offer
  • Be responsible for developing your own practice and undertaking and implementing both mandatory and chosen learning.
  • Listen to and act upon children’s voices to strive for the best outcomes for the child, and work with a child-friendly, child-first approach.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

  • Evidence or experience of working with Children & Young people (11-18 years) in a variety of settings.
  • Evidence or experiences of how to build strong relationships with Children and Young people and how to engage with and maintain the attention of young people in a group work setting.
  • Awareness of issues affecting young people
  • Knowledge or experience of gathering children’s voices and how children can participate and influence decision-making.
  • The ability to support colleagues in delivering group work and to work collectively in a team and independently.
  • To have confidence and creativity in planning and delivering issue-based work to Children and Young people.
  • To contribute to the protection of children from abuse in accordance with local and national safeguarding policies, procedures and practice – to include a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child.
